DIRTY BLOND

I love this book by Courtney Love, well actually is not really a book. It is more like a collage, a collection of old photographs, journal entries, letters, poetry, handwritten song lyrics and notes. Love writes in her introduction: "I have always said that I would never write a book, and I really haven't." It's true—"diaries". I find it honest, intimate and bold! This “book” feels very unedited even if it is edited. Some people will probably find it provocative, dark maybe even distasteful, as some of the highlights include a suicide-note-like apology letter. There are some great pictures in it too and in my opinion it should be perceived as artwork rather than a coffee-table book. Dirty Blond is not for everyone but personally I find it inspirational and moving. I really like the visual layout and inspired to do something similar myself, a scrapbook that reflects my own triumphs, demons, dreams, past and persona. I'm endingthis post with a quote by another great blond :)

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

Wish you all a very good night and a beautiful weekend! XOXO Nicky

My muse

I have been telling you about Kelly Bensimon before since she is kind of o role model and style icon for me. I just can't get enough of her! :) I love her hair, her jewelry line ( she is a jewelry designer among other things), her very heathy lifestyle, her positive energy and look at that dress! I want this dress!! :P She always looks effortlessly fabulous and has this very cool laid back, hippie chic LA style that I looove!!  :)

For me this woman is a great source of inspiration and I think it’s important for everyone to find a style icon, a role model or more the one. Be inspired not just by fashion shows and designers but also by models, celebrities and even interesting people on the streets. When perfecting your personal style take inspiration from around you, movies, exhibitions, books, places and people that you you find fascinating and exciting. Having someone to look up too will help you to stay on the right track when it comes to style and help you to find your voice. And that´s my tip for the day!  :)

I wish you a great day! XOXO Nicky

New category

Hi everyone! I’m adding a new category to my blog named Inspiration 4 me. I thought I share with you the things and people who inspire me in my everyday life and hopefully you will find here some ideas and some motivation for your self as well. My very first post in this category will be about a woman who is just fabulous and someone who is one of my style icons.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon is an author, jewelry designer, former model, and former editor of Elle Accessories. She also appeared on Bravo's popular reality show The Real Housewives of New York City. Kelly Bensimon was married to French fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon and the couple has two daughters together.

I just love this woman’s laidback approach to style and her creative ways of self-expression. I think she is stunning and have a rocking body even though she is 42 years old and is a mother of two. She loves art and likes to walk around barefoot, just like me haha Anyway I think she is really cool and I hope that you like this new category. On youtub you can find a lot of clips of Kelly Bensimon where she talks about her career, her jewelry line, her inspirations, and gives you great fashion and decorating tips. Enjoy!

Have a lovely afternoon! :) XOXO Nicky

Finding my voice

I love books! I don't really know why, but I've never really been a big reader of fictional books of any kind, the kind I love the most are style, design or photography books. Since I was a little girl I was drown to beauty. I remember when most girls were playing house with boys, I rather spend time alone drawing, coloring and painting a imaginary world that only I understood. Out in nature instead of playing hide and seek, I would try to find a prettier shell, stone or flower than the ordinary. My life-long thirst for beauty and creativity have shape me and still is shaping me to the person I’m and aspiring to become. Living among beauty is therapeutic for me, since it transmits positive energy and harmony. I find so much inspiration in these wonderful books, inspiration to continue my journey to perfect my style and find new ways of self-expression.
